About this item

  • Primula acaulis S1 are known as Common Primrose or English Primrose. They grow in rosettes from the ground and are a favorite for early spring beds, borders and containers. Thanks to breeding programs, Common Primroses now are available in more colors and they are more hardy and long-lived.
  • Primrose grows as a perennial in USDA zones 4 - 7 only reaching a height of 5 - 8 inches.
  • They are a lovely addition to borders with spring bulbs. This variety, Accord Blue, has deep violet-blue blooms with contrasting yellow centers. Primulas make great house plants too!
  • Sow 4 seeds per plant. Start Common Primrose seed indoors in winter for early spring transplants. Press the seed into the soil but do not cover it. Keep the seed moist. With a temperature range of 60 – 65F, germination is usually in 30 days.
  • Space the plants 8 inches apart. Grow Common Primrose in partial shade and in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Common Primrose usually is resistant to deer.
